Mission Statement

Anchor Press, Paper & Print is a 501 (c)(3) community based printshop that brings together, under professional guidance, a diverse community of youth, emerging and established artists, and the public to advance the fine art of printmaking and papermaking, by integrating education with the creation of handmade paper and prints.

Description

For 25 years, the previous iteration of AP3, Anchor Graphics, Chicago (1990-2015) published editions and offered workshops, shop access, artist-in-residence programs, internships, exhibitions, free lectures, and other community outreach programs. Now, with a new studio, new community, and new city, AP3 is open in the Riverwest neighborhood of Milwaukee, WI.

HISTORY

Since its inception, Anchor Graphics created partnerships with other arts, education and social organizations in the Chicago area to better carry out its mission of providing public access to fine art printmaking. Anchor hosted national and international visiting artists and lecturers, developed its Artist in Residency program, and published editions with well-established Chicago, national, and international artists. Our gallery presented print-based exhibitions which included lecture/demonstrations by the artists, and a lecture series presented by curators, collectors, authors, and artists, entitled "Scraping the Surface." Our internship program attracted students from all over the world.
