A mobile food pantry is a program that allows Harvesters to distribute nutritious, perishable food in a timely manner to food insecure families.
Volunteers are needed on the second Saturday of every month from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Lawrence First United Methodist Church - West Campus. Volunteers will be outside helping with traffic flow, sign-in sheets, loading people’s cars (must be able to lift 5-20 lbs. repetitively), and a bit of clean-up.

Description
Harvesters is a regional food bank serving a 27 county area of northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas. Our vision is a healthy, thriving community where no one is hungry.
Harvesters provides food and related household products to more than 900 nonprofit agencies including emergency food pantries, community kitchens, homeless shelters, children’s homes and others. We also offer education programs to increase community awareness of hunger and teach about good nutrition.
Harvesters is a certified member of Feeding America, a nationwide network of more than 200 food banks. In 2011, Harvesters was Feeding America’s Food Bank of the Year. We are a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

REQUIREMENTS
- This is a Done in a Day opportunity and there is no prior training or ongoing commitment needed.
- Must be at least 12
- 1.5 Hours
- Come prepared to be outdoors this is a rain, snow, wind, or shine event! All volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes for safety reasons and be able to list up to 15 pounds repetitively.
