Volunteer Opportunity Position Title: Church Communications Associate Ministry/Department: Community Life Ministry Reports To: Tamika Spears, Community Life Leader Time Commitment:

  • Hours per Week/Month: Approximately 2-4 hours per week

  • Schedule Requirements: Flexible; occasional meetings for planning and coordination

  • Duration: Ongoing

Position Overview:

Church Communications Associates assist in managing and distributing church communications to keep the congregation informed and engaged. This includes tasks such as maintaining social media accounts, creating newsletters, and updating the church website. Their contributions ensure that church members and the community stay connected and informed about church events, activities, and announcements.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist in creating and scheduling social media posts to highlight events, sermons, and community initiatives.

  2. Support the design and distribution of digital and/or print newsletters.

  3. Update church website content, such as event calendars and blog posts.

  4. Collaborate with the Community Life Leader to develop effective communication strategies.

Requirements: Spiritual Requirements:
  • A heart for serving and fostering community connections.
  • Willingness to align communications with the church's values and mission.
Membership Requirements:
  • Church Membership Not Required
  • Regular Attendance Preferred
Additional Requirements:
  • Minimum Age Requirement: 16 years old
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Basic knowledge of social media platforms and content creation tools.
  • Familiarity with website content management systems (training provided).
  • Creativity and attention to detail.
Training Provided:
  • Hands-on training for church communication tools (social media, newsletters, website content management system (CMS)).

  • Ongoing mentorship and guidance from the Community Life Leader.

  • Estimated training time: 2-3 hours initially, with periodic updates as needed.

Support Provided:
  • Access to software and tools for communication tasks.

  • Regular check-ins and feedback from the Community Life Leader.

Location:
  • Hybrid: Tasks can be completed on-site or remotely as needed.
