Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service
ORGANIZATION: National Park Service
Please visit the new page to apply.
To honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day, The White House and President’s Park is hosting a day of service through our volunteer program. Since Martin Luther King Jr. Day falls on the same day as Inauguration this year, we will hold this day of service the following week, on Saturday, January 25 th from 10:00am to 2:00pm. MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities. It highlights the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who was a prominent Civil Rights leader who advocated for nonviolent resistance against racial segregation.
Volunteers will help preserve the historic land of The White House and President’s Park by removing soil build up and leaves between sidewalk curbs and cleaning up leaves between wire fences. If you are interested, please sign up here on Volunteer.gov to receive more details!
