Ulman House - Volunteer Dinner/Meal

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Ulman Foundation

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

Group or individuals are responsible for purchasing and preparing dinner for our house guests. For dinner, volunteers should arrive at 5:00PM to begin preparing the meal and mingling with residents. This is a great opportunity to connect with families and patients and ease some of their hardship by preparing a warm healthy meal for them. Guests and their families may not be able to attend volunteer dinners, but even the act of creating a meal, and packaging leftovers have a lasting impact.

Requirements: Under 18 yrs old must be accompanied by guardian, groups must be no larger than 8 people per night, dietary restrictions may apply, dinner volunteers are scheduled 1 month out, must adhere to HIPAA guidelines. Sign up and register by heading to this link! https://ulmanfoundation.volunteerlocal.com/volunteer/

About Ulman Foundation

Location:

2118 East Madison Street, Baltmore, MD 21205, US

Mission Statement

We change lived by creating a community of support for young adults, and their loved ones, impacted by cancer.

Description

Cancer is the leading disease killer among 20- 39-year-olds, and Doug Ulman was just 19 when he was diagnosed with chondrosarcoma cancer. Realizing the lack of resources out there for his age group, Doug and his family made it their mission to provide as much support & resources as they could to the adolescence and young adult cancer community. In 1997 The Ulman Foundation, previously known as The Ulman Cancer Fund, was born. The Ulman Foundation provides adolescent and young adults navigation and support throughout the patient’s entire cancer journey.

In 2019, the Ulman Foundation opened The Ulman House in downtown, Baltimore, MD, just steps away from world renowned hospitals such as Johns Hopkins & University of Maryland. This hospitality house is unlike any others in the country, as it is specifically designed for cancer patients 15-39. The Ulman House provides mental & physical support groups, cooked meals, financial & fertility resources, a supportive community of licensed counselors and a personal, dedicated team along their journey. AYA patients are able to stay, free of charge, for the duration of their treatment.
