Are you ready to make a difference and have fun while doing it? Join Extreme Kids & Crew as a volunteer for our Weekly Club Program!

Extreme Kids and Crew (EKC) is an organization that provides play spaces for neurodivergent youth and their families. These collaborative community spaces foster self-confidence and community development for young people often isolated from public spaces.

We’re looking for enthusiastic, caring individuals to support our programs for neurodivergent children and their families. Volunteers will assist with:

  • Set-Up & Clean-Up: Help prepare the space before activities begin and tidy up after the fun.
  • Engagement: Interact with the kids, encouraging creativity, participation, and joy throughout the session.

This is a wonderful opportunity to build meaningful connections, be part of a supportive community, and directly impact the lives of amazing kids and families.

Whether you’re a student, professional, or someone with a passion for inclusion and fun, we’d love to have you on our team!

This club is designed for girls aged 9-12, but it is open to anyone interested in learning more about shoujo anime, a type of anime subgenre. The participants will learn about different types of shoujo anime and their heroines. They will also learn how to design characters and storyboards and create short mangas. The weekly gathering is free, and all necessary materials will be provided by EKC, the organizers. The program will be led by Natasha Guinansaca, an anime and manga enthusiast who will showcase both old and new anime recommended by the participants. These sessions will encourage girls to express themselves creatively by tapping into their inner storytellers, artists, and imaginations while also developing their social and collaboration skills in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.

About Extreme Kids and Crew

Location:

145 Brooklyn Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11213, US

Mission Statement

Extreme Kids & Crew combats the stress and isolation faced by children with disabilities and their families through play, arts and movement programming, partnerships with cultural and therapeutic institutions, parent meet-ups and more. Our goal is to join with other organizations to fund a flagship center where architects and designers can show off what a truly inclusive building would look like. The building would serve artists, musicians, doctors, healers, thinkers and researchers, allowing them to learn and be inspired by children who think, feel, and move in unique and sometimes startling ways. Most importantly, the building would serve as a second home and community base for families of children with disabilities. These families are in deep need of beautiful public spaces where every member feels welcome and accepted.

Description

Extreme Kids and Crew creates programming for kids with special needs and their families and friends. We have two locations. CAP House is located in the Crispus Attucks Playground in Brooklyn and is a play space with sensory equipment for children ages 4 and under as well as home to a home school co-op for kids with special needs. AMP Space is located at PS 15 in Red Hook Brooklyn and is home to our offices, plus a nice sensory gym. AMP is the location of open play Saturdays and Sundays plus a wide range of classes and programming in art, music, movement and play.
