The Stephen T. Pearlman Volunteer Center administers the volunteer recruitment, screening and interviewing, orientation, training and education, placement and referral, retention, and recognition processes for Lighthouse Guild. Our current corps of volunteers consists of 600 volunteers who contribute to the success of the organization and carry on the legacy of service of the organization’s founders.

Job Summary: This position is ideal for a candidate interested in providing program support in a very busy Volunteer Center. The intern/volunteer will help by handling incoming calls and providing callers with information or directing the caller to the appropriate party. The candidate will also be responsible for administrative projects including updating files and databases conducting research that will advance the mission of the department including identifying new philanthropic and programmatic partners.
Principal duties and responsibilities:
1. Answer department phones.
2. Triage the caller’s needs and provide answers.
3. Escalate the calls to the appropriate party when necessary.
4. Review, scan and organize volunteer electronic files.
5. Manage and maintain receptionist area.
6. When needed aid with the signing into and out of the Volunteer kiosk to interns/volunteers.
7. Manage and distribute meal vouchers and travel reimbursements for volunteers.
8. Prepare and update volunteer timekeeping records.
9. Communicate with volunteers, clients and the public visiting the Executive Floor.
- Provide direct administrative support to the Chief Volunteer Officer (CVO).
- Maintain budget and data documentation for the CVO.
- Coordinate and/or schedule interviews and meetings for the CVO.
- Complete volunteer service records when requested.
- Provide administrative support for volunteer events.
- Work on special projects required to increase the reach and impact of the Volunteer Center.
