Our program serves kindergarten through eighth-grade students from Hartford and surrounding towns. Students and volunteers are paired individually or in small groups for the entire academic year. Volunteers will keep the same student for the whole year unless the student leaves or is removed from the program or if the mentor's schedule no longer permits. Mentoring will be held in person Monday through Thursday for 75 minutes (4:15 p.m.-5:30 p.m.). Volunteer mentors will receive training from ConnectiKids and will be provided with materials and tools to utilize during the mentoring sessions. All volunteers who are 18 years or older must complete a background check and attend training before engaging with any student. ConnectiKids covers the cost of the background check. All sites have a designated mentoring day; however, volunteers are not limited to that day and may choose whichever day they are free and available to mentor. Some mentoring sites will be held on-site, while others will be held at the ConnectiKids office (814 Asylum Ave.) or the designated school. The program is once a week for a little over an hour. It is a low commitment but a high reward for volunteers. Those interested in volunteering can complete the mentor registration here: https://forms.office.com/r/H4c0LZsiDq.
