If you're a good communicator and have a heart for children, you might make a great CASA volunteer! CASA volunteers are appointed by local judges to advocate for children who have been abused or neglected. Volunteers meet monthly with the children they're appointed to serve and provide written reports to the court at regular intervals, making recommendations for services that might help the children heal from their trauma -- and ultimately weighing in on where they think it's safest for those children to live: with parents who have made significant improvements, with other loving relatives or with an adoptive family. Rappahannock CASA's next training session for advocates begins on January 27, 2025. Each trainee must complete an application, sit for an interview and go through background checks before training begins, and participants must attend all 7 training sessions.
