A Day At The Park For Young Families!

Help make it happen for young families. Come hear the squeals of delight of the young kids. See the smiles.

The Kansas City Northern Miniature Train operates at Line Creek Park. You can run the train, be the conductor, or sell tickets. We are open May thru October on weekends. We are 501(c)3 100% volunteer.

Or help maintain the trains. That happens on Tuesday and Thursday mornings during our season.

Training begins in late March and runs through April

Mission Statement

The KCN miniature railroad operates former zoo trains around a 1/2 mile track in Frank Vaydik Line Creek Park from May to October. Train rides are provided for the public to kids of all ages. Days of operation are Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Or you can charter the train for your event on weekdays. $95 an hour and the train is all yours.

We provide a full train experience plus a day at the park for young families. Go home refreshed, not worn out. Doesn't take all day. No sensory overload, $1 per ride - we don't drain your budget.
Formed in 1984 at the request of the Kansas City Parks and Recreation Department for the purpose or restoring the original Kansas City Zoo miniature train, our organization began public operations in 1992 in Line Creek Park. Additional trains have been obtained, and other improvements have been made over the years. We are an all-volunteer, 501c3 non-profit corporation operating as a Kansas City Parks Partner.
