Excellent Communities, Education, and Leadership

Evidence shows that youth with strong relationships with adults have greater social and emotional strength and well-being. Having a professional, positive and caring adult mentor in their lives who offer their personal time and space are known to have long-term gains. Offering youth their lived experience can help youth navigate the many challenges that they may face. It all starts with being a lunch buddy.

We are in need of Lunch Buddies for our middle school (school based) afterschool program sites located in both Jackson and hairston Middle Schools, as well as our sites located at Southwest Middle School and Jamestown Middle School.

Description

Operation Homework: "Equipping Socially, Emotionally and Academically"

Operation Homework seeks to transform the lives of area students by providing them with the support needed to develop strong academic and social skills. We work to empower students to become responsible citizens prepared to succeed in higher education, careers, and in service to the community.

Operation Saturday Academy: "REAL, RELEVANT, ENGAGING"

Operation Saturday Academy offers enriching experiences, which connect real world activities to the subject matter that students are learning in school. Our goal is to compliment academic work and to foster a 'love for learning,’ providing youth with the skills and confidence needed to become productive, forward-thinking creators of their own destiny. We envision these youth maturing to become contributors to the social and economic vitality of their communities.

Operation 3 Steps Ahead Summer Learning: "MAXIMIZING EXCELLENCE"

Our purpose is to engage students in enrichment activities that advance their skills and understanding in the areas of reading and writing, math and science. We also strive to provide students with opportunities to develop character, learn valuable life skills, make new friends, and discover new interests.
