Discover Connection and Growth with Crabtree Farms' Workshare Program!

Embark on a journey of hands-on learning, community building, and sustainable agriculture through Crabtree Farms’ INCLUSIVE Workshare Program. This unique opportunity offers a dynamic, seasonal experience where you can grow alongside nature while contributing to a thriving farm ecosystem.

Winter Session 2025:
Dates: December 4 - March 1 (12 weeks)
Times: Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, 9:00 AM-12:00 PM

If you are running late on the day of your shift, please email Lauren at lrussek@crabtreefarms.org

Join us for a winter workshare session! Participants commit to a weekly, three-hour shift filled with meaningful tasks and guided learning under the expertise of Lauren Russek. From planting and propagating to harvesting and infrastructure improvements, every moment spent in our urban farm fosters personal growth and community impact.

In gratitude for your dedication, Workshare participants receive a biweekly produce box, brimming with the freshest, most delicious offerings from our fields and greenhouse. Relish the fruits (and veggies!) of your labor, knowing your hands helped bring them to life.

Winter Workshare Projects Include:

  • Enhancing and Repairing Infrastructure
  • Perennial Plant Care
  • Veggie Care and Harvesting
  • Compost Management
  • High Tunnel Site Prep and Install

Program Details & Expectations:

  • Attendance: Participants may miss up to two shifts; beyond this, we’ll transition you to a regular volunteer role. We welcome make-up days with clear communication.
  • Commitment: Workshare participants agree to a waiver upon application submission and are expected to communicate absences to Lauren at lrussek@crabtreefarms.org.
  • Environment: Crabtree Farms fosters a safe, inclusive, and equitable space for all participants to connect and collaborate.

Eligibility:

  • For ALL volunteers under 12 years of age, we require ONE (1) parent/guardian/chaperone PER child. We require a paper waiver form for the child to be filled out by a parent or legal guardian and submitted to ckey@crabtreefarms.org no later than 24 hours prior to the event. Parents/guardians/chaperones will fill out the 18+ electronic waiver form on this website. We require at least 24-hours notice before young children are expected on the property, to give us time to prepare a suitable task, so please email ckey@crabtreefarms.org with the names and ages of each child who will be accompanying you.
  • We can host volunteers 12-16 provided all children in a family are accompanied by one (1) parent/guardian/chaperone per family. We require a paper waiver form OR the Under 18 Online Waiver to be filled out by a parent or legal guardian and submitted to ckey@crabtreefarms.org no later than 24 hours prior to the event. You do not need to notify us otherwise.

  • We can host volunteers 16 and up without a chaperone, however anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver form and submit it to ckey@crabtreefarms.org no later than 24 hours prior to the event. You do not need to notify us otherwise.
