This Valentine's Day, join I Love A Clean San Diego and Think Blue San Diego for a litter cleanup! Volunteers will show the San Diego River Watershed some love by picking up litter and preventing it from travelling to the Pacific Ocean.

Volunteers will meet staff at a check-in-table, join ILACSD for a talk about watersheds and trash disposal, then grab supplies needed to pick up litter. Volunteers will then collect litter and take it back to ILACSD staff to sort through and dispose of properly. After the cleanup, volunteers can request community service hours.

During the event, ILACSD will also be giving out native seed paper Valentine's cards! Volunteers can decorate and sign the cards with provided supplies to create a heartfelt message for loved ones while supporting the environment. Plant your native seed paper cards to grow beautiful flowers that help support local wildlife!

Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes

Signing Up: In addition to signing up with HandsOn San Diego, please register on ILACSD's event page.

Attire: Be sure to wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. This opportunity takes place outdoors with little or no shade so volunteers should wear sun protection such as sunscreen and a hat.

Bring: ILACSD provides all of the clean up supplies. Be sure to bring a water bottle or two!

Physical Requirements: Unfortunately this opportunity is not able to make accommodations for individuals with physical limitations.

Waiver: This event requires a signed release-of-liability waiver for all volunteers, and anyone under 18 needs a waiver signed by a guardian. If possible, print the waiver, sign, and bring it to this cleanup. They will also have waivers to sign on-site.

Weather: This event takes place rain or shine! If it is raining, bringing rain boots, a raincoat, and a towel to dry off afterwards is recommended.
