Queen Community House's Friendly Visiting Program matches homebound older adults with volunteers in their community, creating intergenerational relationships in Western, Central and Southeast Queens. The program aims to reduce isolation and loneliness amongst seniors in our neighborhoods and communities. Friendly visiting is an enriching opportunity for the volunteer to develop a meaningful friendship. Together, the older adult and volunteer can discuss shared interests, learn/teach new skills, read books, learn technology, and celebrate special holidays.
We have a wonderful client who is an avid poetry reader and enjoys classical music/ literature. He is a graduate Cornell University and worked as a librarian in a law library. He'd love to be matched with a friendly visitor that he can discuss poetry and classical music with. He is available for phone calls in the afternoons any day of the week.
Contact us if you would like to meet this wonderful older adult and share stories once a week for an hour! Email us at volunteer@qchnyc.org for more information!37 More opportunities with Queens Community House

Mission Statement
Queens Community House provides individuals and families with the tools to enrich their lives and build healthy, inclusive communities.
Description
Queens Community House (QCH) is a multi-site, multi-service settlement house that serves the diverse neighborhoods of Queens. We serve residents of all ages, races, faiths, and ethnicities while supporting the viability of the borough as a whole.
QCH was formed in 1975 (as Forest Hills Community House) to help heal the wounds of a neighborhood conflict. Over four decades, our reach and breadth have grown; today we offer a broad network of comprehensive services at 25 program sites in 11 different neighborhoods in Queens, allowing us to impact individuals, families, and entire communities.
