Volunteer for Rattle Snake Springs: The volunteer will assist park personnel in general upkeep and maintenance of Rattlesnake Springs Home and Picnic area. The volunteer will work by helping to maintain designated areas, which may need to conduct operating equipment usage. The volunteer will assist staff from Facility Management or other divisions to improve area, landscape and home damage being caused by environmental or other factors.

The volunteer will have the opportunity to live in the home. Some of the duties that the volunteer will be responsible for will be the inside and outside to include cleaning, maintaining, caring for all furniture, appliances, to include kitchen, living room, dining room and other rooms being utilized while volunteering at Rattlesnake Springs Picnic Area, at Carlsbad Caverns National Park.

Volunteers may also on occasion assist with significant areas of high impact by visitors to Rattlesnake Springs i.e., recreational, historical, and cultural reasons. Volunteer will assist in strengthening interpretation and education of visitors by sharing park knowledge and information. Volunteers will be trained on procedures for proper technique in handling, usage of tools, and appropriate care of equipment for safety reasons of self and others.

The volunteer will shadow park personnel until the volunteer is comfortable and feels confident to do the task they are volunteering to do in a safe manner.
