The Heart Walk is a fun family event where participants walk with friends, family members and
co-workers and get moving together as they join more than a million people in more than 300 communities across the country in taking a stand against heart disease and stroke - the No. 1 and No. 5 killers of Americans.
We are proud to present this unique opportunity to volunteer your time and talents at the Fairfield County Heart Walk on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Sherwood Island State Park - Sherwood Island Connector Westport, CT 06880
VOLUNTEER ATTIRE: Wear comfortable sneakers. Volunteer t-shirt will be provided at the event. The Heart Walk is rain or shine, please dress appropriately.
TIME COMMITTMENT: Please be prompt and arrive by 7:00 am to learn about your role(s) and remain through break-down of the event - approximately 1:00 pm. Periodic breaks will be scheduled throughout the day.
VOLUNTEER RESPONSIBILITIES: Volunteers are so vital to the success of this event; therefore, as someone says "Yes! We encourage all volunteers to be flexible with their responsibilities throughout the event, as we may need to adjust assignments as the event progresses.

Mission Statement
To be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.
Description
Heart disease is the No. 1 killer worldwide, and stroke ranks second globally. Even when those conditions don’t result in death, they cause disability and diminish quality of life. We want to see a world free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
Our size and scope let us have real impact. The AHA has invested more than $5 billion in research, making us the largest not-for-profit funding source for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease research next to the federal government.
