About Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club:

Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club is more than just a place to ride horses. We're a community-based non-profit organization in Philadelphia with a long history of providing a safe and enriching environment for youth through horsemanship and mentorship. Our "work to ride" program empowers young people, teaches responsibility, and builds life skills.

About the Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated volunteer who specialized in Fundraising to help us diversify our funding sources and expand our reach. This is an position perfect for an outgoing person with strong interpersonal skills, ability to network, and a passion for community engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Donor Cultivation: Help build and maintain relationships with individual donors, cultivating new prospects and stewarding existing supporters.
  • Community Outreach: Represent Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club at community events and engage with potential donors.
  • Fundraising Strategy: Contribute to the development and implementation of our overall fundraising plan.
  • Event Planning: Assist with the planning and execution of fundraising events, from small gatherings to larger community events.

You will work with our Chief Operating Officer as well as our Board Treasurer.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Experience with event planning and/or donor cultivation (preferred)
  • Passion for our mission and commitment to serving the community
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices and ethical standards

At FSURC, we use horsemanship and equestrianism to teach life skills, instill discipline, and promote academic achievement, while preserving and connecting our community to the rich and long history of the Urban Black cowboy. We're dedicated to empowering our under served city youth, through horsemanship, providing a positive outlet for outdoor activities.

Officially founded as a non-profit in 2004 by Ellis "El-Dog" Ferrell, Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club is a community-based organization in the Strawberry Mansion neighborhood, dedicated to providing horsemanship education, mentorship, and community engagement opportunities for youth in Philadelphia. The club has been a pillar of the community in North Philadelphia for over 50 years, offering a unique and positive outlet for young people to learn valuable life skills through their love of horses.
