We have a 40 foot greenhouse full of dozens of herbs but do not have the time to make good use of what we grow. We are looking for a volunteer that knows what are beneficial to our farm animals and bird rescues, but who also can make things like infused vinegar, teas, creams, lotions, scrubs, lip balms or bath "salts" for our gift shop (the donations through our shop help us raise funds to care for rescues. We also have nettle for tea and St. John's wort for a sun-infused oil.
This position can be partially on-site, if you want to work in the greenhouse or plant different herbs and the position can also be remote since you would be preparing the products at home. We only ask for a commitment in-line with our weekly volunteers of 4-hours a week, but the days/hours can be flexible and at your convenience.

Mission Statement
West Place Animal Sanctuary rescues farm animals from abuse, neglect, and cruelty and provides them with a permanent home and lifelong care. We rehabilitate sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife in Rhode Island and release healthy animals back into their natural habitats. We also operate the lost dog shelter for the towns of Tiverton and Little Compton. Through our humane education programs, West Place educates the public, offers hands-on educational experiences through our immersive student internships, and cultivates a more compassionate community.
Description
Founded in 2007, West Place Animal Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides lifesaving care, love, and a permanent home to farm animals rescued from cases of abuse, neglect, and cruelty. It is a licensed wildlife rehabilitation center that assists sick, injured, and orphaned animals, and releases healthy wildlife back into their natural habitats. It also serves as the lost dog shelter for the towns of Tiverton and Little Compton. West Place has a network of 75+ volunteers, who provide essential animal care 365 days a year, and the organization provides unique hands-on humane education experiences to students to cultivate a more compassionate community.
