The Digital Inclusion Program helps older adults safely and confidently do the things they need and want to do in an increasingly digital world, including email, virtual
meetings, online finance and commerce, and telehealth.
Position Summary
The Digital Navigator helps older adults learn new digital skills, either in small-group classes or
through one-on-one coaching sessions. The Digital Navigator will be trained through Senior
Planet, will receive all needed course materials, and will work with the Program Coordinator to
schedule classes.
You DO NOT need to be an expert in technology to be an excellent Digital Navigator! You just
have to love helping others, have patience, communicate well, be comfortable with technology,
and be willing to learn more.
Key Tasks
* Teach weekly or monthly classes at Community Partner locations (senior apartment
buildings, community centers, etc), as scheduled by the Program Coordinator
* Meet one-on-one with older adults to help them learn new skills and troubleshoot their
personal devices
* Attend quarterly in-service trainings
* Collect information from participants, to help measure participant learning and program
impact
* Provide information and stories to the Program Director for reporting and grant writing
We partner with Senior Planet (www.seniorplanet.org ), a national, non-profit organization and
affiliate of AARP, which provides free classes, articles, videos, and activities to help older adults
learn new skills, save money, exercise, make new friends, and so much more. As a partner, we
benefit from Senior Planet’s high-quality curriculum and materials, as well as their excellent
Train-the-Trainer course for all new volunteers.
