Desired Schedule: 4 hour shifts per week (Tuesdays or Thursdays preferred), onsite at the History Colorado Center, 1200 Broadway, Denver, CO.
Position Description: The State permit records archives volunteer will assist our State Curation Coordinator, in the digitization of physical permit records for extraction of data. These records primarily predate 2017 and contain data for various localities and collections that are not properly recorded in the Argus database at History Colorado. The volunteer will scan records on site at the History Colorado Center.
Working with a volunteer to proactively digitize these records will be beneficial as more requests are expected from our repositories and having these files digitized will be a significant timesaver on these requests and allow for the more rapid cleanup of this legacy data.
Impact - This work helps provide organization and access to the State's legacy collection and brings together Colorado's scientific community. Once cleaned up, History Colorado will be better able to track the state collections and handle requests for their use.
Desired Skills:
Ability to work independently upon completion of training.
Attention to detail
Willingness to perform data entry
Familiarity with Google Sheets/Excel
Familiarity with Adobe suite
Ability to read cursive
