Calling skilled writers or teachers of writing! We are looking for a volunteer facilitator for "The Write Stuff," our writing club for people living with ALS. If you have experience with writing or teaching memoirs, fiction, poetry, or all three, you could make a great leader for this group. The club meets online once a month from 1:00-2:30 CST, typically on the 3rd or 4th Thursday with some variation for holidays. Meetings are casual, focused on conversation and building camaraderie.
Between meetings, the group uses an online form called Padlet to communicate with one another and share their work. We'd ask this volunteer to post prompts twice a month (on the 1st and 15th) to promote writing, spark conversation, and keep up engagement. When participants post work on the forum, we'd also ask the volunteer to read it and give constructive feedback. Both in the club meetings and on the forum, we're seeking a volunteer who can create a safe, fun environment that encourages people to write and builds a strong community of people living with ALS who love writing.
The writing club is open to people living with ALS across the United States: to help maintain a consistent presence, we're ideally seeking a volunteer who can make an ongoing, long-term commitment.
