Library Assistant 2025

Help Joshua Tree National Park organize and open its new research library! 


Library Assistant volunteers will enter new books and other materials into the library following standard procedures. Volunteers will affix log tags to books, organize books on shelves, reshelve books, prepare catalog cards, and file catalog cards. Volunteers may also assist staff with leading public groups coming to the library if requested.


Applicants must be able to stand for the entirety of their shift, be able to safely lift 10-pound materials repeatedly, and must be comfortable working with members of the public of all ages.


Volunteers must be available for one shift per week. Shift days and times are flexible, but must be scheduled for two hours Sunday - Wednesday between 9am and 4pm. Volunteers are expected to work one shift per week the first week of January 2025 through the middle of April 2025. Volunteer position may be extended on a case-by-case basis.


This work will take place at Joshua Tree National Park headquarters in Twentynine Palms, CA. Applicants must live within a 90-minute drive of Twentynine Palms.
