Mission Statement

Promoting and protecting the rights of vulnerable and marginalized workers through empowerment of communities and individuals in Uganda.

Description

PLA International conducts research on the rights of vulnerable and marginalized workers in Uganda, focusing on issues such as child labor, human trafficking, access to justice, and opportunities for urban poor youth, skilling, and entrepreneurship. Our work aims to bridge the gap between international standards, particularly those in the U.S., and those in Uganda by using comparative studies to highlight key differences and identify methods that advance our mission of protecting marginalized workers.

Activities of the organization include, but are not limited to, the impact of projects in Uganda and facilitating learning exchanges between the global north and south to share best practices and innovative ideas to address issues affected groups face. Further activities will include the creation of toolkits, dissemination of research, and engagement with similar organizations working in the Uganda, U.S., and international sectors.

As we expand our initiatives, we are looking for a dedicated Partnership Development and Fundraising Volunteer to support our efforts in building strategic relationships and securing funding to sustain our impact.
