- A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
Dirt Corps and the Georgetown Youth Council invite you to join us for a community gathering at Gateway Park North, a local riverside park that we have worked for years to restore and enhance! We will be caring for the lovely poplar trees and learning about the value of added tree canopy in industrial areas. We will also be winterizing the garden beds and rain gardens by removing weeds and tucking our plants in with mulch. We want to make sure this place is snug for the winter season!
All skill levels are welcome! Please wear closed-toed shoes, weather-appropriate clothes that can get dirty, and bring a water bottle. Tools, gloves, snacks, and drinks will be provided. Please register at https://linktr.ee/thedirtcorps so we can estimate supplies needed.

Description
The Duwamish Infrastructure Restoration Training Corps (DIRT Corps) was established in South Seattle in 2015 as a community partnership program to provide on-the-job training for adult workers, specifically encouraging women, people of color, LGBT, and veterans to enroll. The program provides hands-on training with a focus on rain garden and cistern design/build, operations and maintenance, vegetation management, and ecological restoration. We also provide turnkey services in Urban Forestry, Green Infrastructure, and Ecological Restoration.
