About I'RAISE:
I'RAISE Girls & Boys International Corporation, founded in 2012 in the heart of the North Bronx, began as a mentorship program aimed at at-risk female youth living in New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) facilities. With the visionary leadership of CEO Shanequa Moore, the organization expanded its impact, moving from a mentorship focus to addressing the critical need for mental health support for youth in public schools.
Today, I'RAISE is committed to fostering resilience, promoting well-being, and empowering youth through culturally responsive programs and advocacy for equity in mental healthcare. Through its work, I'RAISE is creating lasting social change for vulnerable children and families.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Public Relations Consultant to help elevate the profile of I'RAISE through strategic media outreach and content creation. The consultant will work closely with our team to develop and place op-eds, secure media coverage, coordinate interviews, and pitch columns that align with the mission of I'RAISE. The consultant will play a key role in shaping the narrative of our organization and advocating for the youth we serve.
Key Responsibilities
Op-Ed & Article Development
Write and pitch op-eds, articles, and columns for the CEO and I'RAISE to share thought leadership, organizational news, and relevant social issues.
Media Outreach
Develop and maintain relationships with key media contacts to secure media coverage and interviews for I'RAISE’s initiatives and CEO.
Interview Coordination
Coordinate and prep the CEO and staff for interviews with media outlets, ensuring messaging aligns with I'RAISE’s mission and goals.
Strategic Media Placement
Identify and pursue media opportunities to increase I'RAISE’s visibility, advocacy for youth mental health, and other core initiatives.
Brand Building
Help establish and enhance the public presence of the organization and its leadership, positioning them as industry thought leaders.
Who Can Apply?
We are looking for experienced PR professionals with a passion for social impact, storytelling, and media relations. Ideal candidates will have expertise in creating and placing media content that influences public opinion and supports nonprofit causes.
Qualifications:
Have a proven track record in media relations, public relations, or journalism, specifically in securing media placements and crafting compelling narratives.
Possess excellent writing and communication skills with a focus on creating thought-provoking, engaging content.
Are experienced in drafting and pitching op-eds, articles, and columns for high-profile individuals and organizations.
Have strong knowledge of current events, social issues, and media trends, particularly in the realms of youth empowerment, mental health, and nonprofit work.
Are strategic thinkers, able to tailor communications to specific audiences and media outlets.
