- This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity.
- Paralegal is expected to put in a minimum of 5 hours per month and be responsive to emails within 36 hours.
- STW(tm) welcomes volunteers who are seeking skill-based volunteering opportunity. STW(tm) shall provide "letter of recommendation" professionals who demonstrate outstanding contribution for professional references.
SUMMARY:
Paralegal are expected to assist in all legal matters and advise in legal documentation, negotiations, contracts, etc. The consultant will also analyze and identify the legal issues and maintain correspondence, etc. so that there are no legal actions taken against STW(tm).
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct legal research, including reviewing statutes, regulations, and case law.
- Draft legal documents, such as affidavits, and contracts, under the supervision of company’s president.
- Perform administrative tasks, organize, and maintain documents, ensuring they are easily accessible to the team.
- Stay up to date with changes in laws and regulations relevant to the STW (tm) areas.
- Responsible for drafting and reviewing the legal filings and drafting technically correct opinions.
- Involved in drafting and reviewing agreements, producing technically accurate quality standard work, preparing technically correct opinions and reviewing the reports.
- Interact positively with various levels within the entire organization.
- Attending meetings & capturing minutes of the meeting.
- Fill the timesheet regularly.
- Should be able to attend meetings as scheduled in the EST time zone.
EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, or a related field.
- An Associate's degree with relevant work experience may also be considered.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, preferably in a law firm or legal department
- Proficiency in legal research, document drafting, and case management.
- Proficiency in the usage of Google Drive, Gmail and knowledge of Google Drive and MS Office tool suite.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently when necessary.
- Technically proficient in legal matters and should have in-depth knowledge of the local legal environment as well.
- Ability to analyze legal disputes, issues, etc.
- Strong communication skills and should be able to work independently.
