Bilingual Wish Granters: Help to make a child's wish come true!
ORGANIZATION: Make-A-Wish Southern Florida
Please visit the new page to apply.
Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
As a Bilingual Wish Granter, you will meet with the wish child and family members to help them explore wish ideas, plan special enhancements for the wish child, and play a vital role in granting each wish. Wish granters work in teams of two with Make-A-Wish staff to ensure every eligible child’s wish comes true. Meetings with the wish family typically take place at their home on weekday evenings or weekends based upon the availibility of the wish family and volunteers.
Potential volunteers must complete an orientation, application, and online background check. Additional training is required to grant wishes.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Comfortable interacting with children ages 2 ½ to 18
- Excellent people skills with the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, including children with critical illnesses, other volunteers and Make-A-Wish staff
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Flexible schedule and willingness to drive up to one hour to visit with wish child and family
We are more than a great place to volunteer - our work is life changing. We are an inclusive and diverse group of people who, through a mosaic of backgrounds, thoughts and experiences are united in purposeful work. We are fueled and guided by our values - values that are represented in the inspired people we work with and the transformational work we do every day.
