Are you a crafty individual with a heart of gold? We're seeking compassionate volunteers to create soothing fidget mats for our patients with Alzheimer's and Dementia.

Why Fidget Mats? Fidget mats offer a world of comfort and stimulation for restless hands. By providing sensory and tactile experiences, these handmade creations can:

  • Reduce anxiety
  • Increase focus
  • Soothe and calm nerves

How You Can Help:

  1. Get Crafty: Sew or quilt a fidget mat that's no larger than 14" x 14".
  2. Choose Wisely: Consider both men and women when selecting fabrics and accessories.
  3. Keep it Safe: Avoid small, detachable items like buttons or beads to prevent choking hazards.

Ideas for Fidget Mat Features:

  • Zippers
  • Buckles
  • Velcro
  • Ribbons
  • Textured fabrics
  • Pockets with attached objects
  • Lacing
  • Sports-themed items
  • Stuffed animals
  • Child-sized plastic tools or kitchen utensils

Ready to Donate? You can drop off your completed fidget mats at Echo Hospice of PA, 417 N 7th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19123, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (call 445-247-3226 if you are dropping off).

Thank you for your kindness and generosity! Your handmade creations will bring comfort and joy to our patients.

Mission Statement

The mission of Echo Hospice is to bring hope, support and life enriching care to those who face life's end. "Life is an echo. What you send out comes back. Radiate and give love and compassion, and love and compassion will return to you."

Description

Volunteers play a vital role in hospice care. They can provide companionship and help with activities that may enhance quality of life while bringing true joy to patients facing terminal illnesses. Volunteers are important and may help ease the burdens associated with end-of-life care for families and loved ones. While Volunteers provide companionship to patients, they can be of great support to their families. We also have other volunteer opportunities available in our programs such as, our Expressions Art Therapy, Pawsitive Pals Pet Therapy, or Music Therapy.
