Our mission is to improve the lives of students affected by food insecurity in Baltimore by delivering bags of nutritious and child-friendly food to schools weekly.
During a packing session, volunteers will work in an assembly line adding items to a grocery bag. All bags packaged during a session will be in the hands of a student that weekend. Volunteer sessions are usually an hour and a half long and we pack an average of 600 bags during each session.

Mission Statement
The mission of Weekend Backpacks is to improve the lives of students affected by food insecurity in Baltimore. We envision that all students are nourished and ready to learn.
Description
All Baltimore City schoolchildren are provided a free breakfast and lunch on school days. However, those experiencing food insecurity face the weekend without that same reliable access to food. Weekend Backpacks aims to bridge this gap by providing nutritious, child-friendly food to students and their families for the weekends.
