MTC staff will be on hand to provide a brief overview of the MTC organization and how we work to help the youth in our Mountain View and Los Altos communities. We'll cover the exciting volunteer opportunities at MTC and answer any questions you may have about the program.

The mission of Mentor Tutor Connection is to enhance academic and life skills for students through individualized volunteer tutoring and mentoring. We serve the students in the public schools of Los Altos and Mountain View.
Description
Mentor Tutor Connection (MTC) is a community-based and supported non-profit organization that provides tutors at elementary and middle school grade levels in the Los Altos and Mountain View Whisman School Districts and mentors to students in the three high schools in the Mountain View Los Altos High School District.
Tutoring: For elementary and middle school children, we offer tutoring during the school day under the supervision of the classroom teacher and help with homework in after school programs. Most of the tutoring is in basic skills but subjects can range from reading skills, English, math, and science. We also may assist English language learners or students in special programs such as public speaking or science labs. Our tutors must be high school graduates.
Mentoring: All mentor volunteers are placed at the high school level. Mentors are carefully screened and interviewed by one of our experienced Mentor Program Managers for the purpose of creating a good match with a student who has been referred to the program. Mentor training is provided and ongoing support is available through the Mentor Program Managers. The role of the mentor is to spend time with the student, be a good listener, and provide a positive influence in the student’s life. Our mentors must be at least 22 years of age.
