Organizational Overview

The Park Community Development Corporation’s (The Park CDC) mission is, "To create sustainable change within marginalized communities by investing in solutions to affordable housing, healthy living, and economic mobility." The Park CDC works to increase equity in housing, health, and economic mobility for youth, adults, and seniors living in West Charlotte by providing information, resources, and strategies to help individuals improve their circumstances and opportunities for success.

Members of The Park CDC’s Governing Board of Directors will serve for a term of two years and support the organization through the following activities:

  • Ensuring compliance with nonprofit regulations

  • Providing financial oversight and reviewing/approving the annual budget

  • Working with staff to determine organizational priorities and goals

  • Providing input and and strategic recommendations on current and potential programming

  • Developing methods to evaluate programs and impact

  • Increasing community awareness about programs, goals, and impact

  • Garnering support for the organization’s programs and operations

  • Identifying potential community partners and other resources to support and enhance The Park CDC’s programs

Board Meetings

Board meetings are conducted virtually and held quarterly on the last Thursday of the month between 9:00 A.M. and 10:30 A.M., and attendance is required for all meetings.

Programs & Events

Board Members are expected to attend fundraising and program events throughout the fiscal year and are encouraged to observe at least one program session to familiarize themselves with the work and impact of the organization.

Desired Skill Sets

  • Understanding of nonprofit regulations, governance, operations, and fiscal management

  • Knowledge of affordable housing, health, and economic mobility-related subject matter, particularly as it pertains to Charlotte, NC

  • Familiarity with the West Charlotte Community

  • Willingness to network, raise awareness, and fundraise on behalf of the organization
