We are seeking a volunteer English mentor to join our team and help empower young adults from low-income backgrounds (18-29 years old) as they develop their English skills. Soul Bilíngue, recognized as the Best Brazilian Small-Size NGO by the Melhores ONGs Prize 2023, connects dedicated mentors with motivated students eager to improve their English fluency.
About Soul Bilíngue and the Mentoring Program:
Soul Bilíngue is committed to bridging the opportunity gap for young Brazilians by providing access to vital English language skills. We believe that proficiency in English can open doors to education, employment, and personal growth. Our mentoring program pairs volunteer mentors with students, creating a supportive environment where they can practice conversational English and gain confidence.
The impact of our program is far-reaching. Mentors not only help students improve their language skills but also serve as role models and inspire them to pursue their goals. By sharing your own experiences with English, whether through academic study, travel, or professional development, you can make a significant difference in the lives of these young adults.
About the English Mentor Role:
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about helping others and eager to share their English language skills. No prior teaching experience is required! You will provide one-on-one online mentoring sessions, helping students practice their conversational English and build confidence.
Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Possess at least a B2 - Upper Intermediate English Level (you will be matched with a Beginner or Elementary English level student)
- Have up to 5 hours per month available for individual online mentoring sessions (THREE mandatory sessions per month)
- Commit to volunteering with our organization in this role for 6 months
Responsibilities:
- Conduct three mandatory individual online mentoring sessions per month.
- Engage in conversational English practice with your assigned student.
- Share your experiences and insights related to learning and using English.
- Provide motivation and encouragement to your mentee.
