We need volunteers who are willing to read the paper or a book to the patient, share hobbies, play & listen to soothing music, talk to patients, bring flowers from a garden, share photos, or just sit quietly and be the gift of presence for them. About Silverado Hospice -South Houston

Location:

Mission Statement

Silverado Hospice's mission is to affirm the cycle of life by enhancing the quality of living for those at the end of life. The Silverado standard is to care compassionately for patients and their families and to empower those we serve to have quality of life options that afford them comfort and dignity.

Description

Silverado Hospice provides care for terminally ill patients in their home, nursing home or assisted living facilities. Hospice volunteers are ordinary people of all ages with extraordinary love and a common bond concern for others. Volunteers can touch lives in many ways. As little as a few hours a week can truly make a difference in your life and someone else's. Volunteers are an integral part of the Silverado Hospice Circle of Care. Our trained volunteers spend time with patients and families to provide support and love in many ways. They keep patients company, read to them, or take them for walks. They give care relief to weary caregivers, run errands, help in the office and provide bereavement support to grieving families. Individuals with musical, artistic, sewing, and quilting skills are welcome.
