ORGANIZATION: Dogs for Better Lives

Regional Advisory Board - PNW
Dogs for Better Lives' Regional Advisory Board-PNW

Do you have a love of dogs and want to make it possible to train and place Service Dogs with people with disabilities? We’d love for you to join us!

Dogs for Better Lives (DBL) has an active Regional Advisory Board (RAB) in Washington (Seattle/Tacoma/Everett/Bellevue/Spokane), Oregon (Portland Metro/Vancouver), and Idaho (Boise Metro). RAB’s are comprised of like-minded individuals that have a passion for dogs and giving back to people with disabilities in their communities. Members are responsible for marketing the mission of DBL, participating in outreach events, as well as planning and fundraising through a variety of initiatives.

DBL's Regional Advisory Board - Pacific Northwest is specifically helping to support our ongoing Service Dog work, in helping to promote volunteer puppy raiser program.

How it works:

  1. Members commit to be a volunteer RAB member for a minimum of 12 months (1 year)
  2. Meet monthly, via Google Chat, with other RAB members to plan events, share ideas, and work together to further DBL’s mission in your community
  3. Quarterly, all RAB’s across the country meet together on Microsoft Teams along with DBL leadership and Board member mentors to have strategic discussions about upcoming events, continuing education opportunities, and more.
  4. Commit to fundraising and spreading the word about DBL with your network of friends, family and colleagues.

What you get:

  • Be a part of something larger than yourself! You’ll have a DIRECT impact on DBL’s ability to provide our services to your community.
  • Networking opportunities with like-minded individuals, DBL staff and board members.
  • Acknowledgement on DBL’s social media channels
  • Plan and attend FUN events, and get to spend time with future Service Dogs and DBL volunteers at events

Mission Statement

Dogs for Better Lives' mission is to professionally train dogs to help people and enhance lives while maintaining a lifelong commitment to all dogs we rescue or breed and the people we serve.

Description

Dogs for Better Lives professionally trains dogs to become Hearing Assistance Dogs, Facility Dogs, and Autism Assistance Dogs. We do this at a minimal cost of an application fee to the client.

Dogs for Better Lives travels to the client for an interview. Following the application process the dog is delivered to the client by the Certified Assistance Dog Trainer that trained the dog. The Trainer spends several days supporting the client in their daily activities with their new Assistance dog.

Dogs for Better Lives maintains a lifelong commitment to our clients and dogs!
