Position Overview
Not Defined By FND is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending stigma, raising awareness, advocating for research and treatments, and creating hope for all FND warriors. As a Volunteer Grant Writer, you will play a vital role in securing funding to support our programs, outreach, and advocacy efforts. This is a virtual position that offers the opportunity to make a significant impact while working on a flexible schedule.
Your primary responsibility will be to identify funding opportunities, draft compelling grant proposals, and collaborate with our team to ensure successful submission of applications. By leveraging your writing and research skills, you will help sustain and grow our mission-driven work.
Key ResponsibilitiesGrant Research:
- Identify and evaluate potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporate funders.
- Maintain an organized database or list of grant deadlines and requirements.
Proposal Development:
- Write clear, persuasive, and tailored grant proposals aligned with the organization's mission and goals.
- Collaborate with the team to gather necessary information, statistics, and documentation for grant applications.
- Ensure all proposals are completed accurately and submitted on time.
Funder Communication:
- Assist in drafting letters of inquiry, follow-up emails, and other communications with funders.
- Build and maintain relationships with potential funders to strengthen funding opportunities.
Reporting and Tracking:
- Assist in tracking the status of grant submissions, approvals, and rejections.
- Work with the team to ensure compliance with grant reporting requirements and deadlines.
- Time Commitment: Dedicate approximately 5-10 hours per week, depending on grant cycles and deadlines.
- Communication:
- Attend virtual check-ins or team meetings as needed to discuss progress and align on priorities.
- Maintain regular communication with team members via email or collaboration tools.
- Professionalism:
- Ensure all work meets the organization’s standards of professionalism, accuracy, and alignment with our mission.
- Respect confidentiality and maintain the integrity of all grant-related documents and funder communications.
- Independence: Work autonomously while meeting deadlines and adhering to organizational guidelines.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft persuasive and impactful proposals.
- Experience in grant writing or similar roles, preferably in the nonprofit sector, preferred but not required.
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with research methods to identify grant opportunities.
- Passion for Not Defined By FND’s mission and commitment to supporting FND warriors.
- Be part of a team making a meaningful difference for individuals affected by FND.
- Develop or strengthen your grant-writing, research, and nonprofit fundraising skills.
- Gain experience in nonprofit development and fundraising strategies.
