POSITION: Database Volunteer (unpaid)
HOURS: 3-5 hours per week, 6-month commitment, fully remote with flexible scheduling
ABOUT TACT (TRANS ADVOCACY & CARE TEAM):
The Trans Advocacy & Care Team (TACT) is a trans-led nonprofit initiative on a mission to champion the wellbeing of transgender, nonbinary, and gender-diverse adults across the U.S. Through our free peer counseling, support groups, and resource navigation, we foster trans joy, community, and empowerment. We are committed to living out our anti-oppression and racial equity values in all we do. Learn more about our work at www.yourtact.org.
VOLUNTEER POSITION OVERVIEW:
As a Database Volunteer, you’ll help grow and maintain our Resource Database, which connects trans individuals with gender-affirming care and services. This is a vital, behind-the-scenes role where you’ll be handling tasks asynchronously, though you’ll have the chance to connect with fellow volunteers during monthly meetings. Your contributions will ensure our volunteers and participants have up-to-date resources, making a critical impact on the community.
You’ll work closely with the Partnerships & Education Coordinator to respond to resource requests and maintain our vetted provider database. You’ll also support our Gender Advocates (volunteer peer counselors) in finding relevant resources for their participants, playing a key role in ensuring access to affirming care.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Respond to requests for resources in Slack in a timely manner.
- Vet new and existing providers based on our evaluation criteria.
- Maintain and update our Resource Database in Google Sheets.
- Communicate gaps in the database to inform outreach strategies.
- Collaborate with other volunteers on special projects as needed.
TIME COMMITMENT:
3-5 hours per week for a minimum of 6 months, fully remote with flexible scheduling.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Experience in research and working with large datasets.
- Strong critical thinking and evaluation skills.
- Proficient with Google Sheets.
- Organized, reliable, and able to commit to at least 6 months (3-5 hours per week).
- Passionate about uplifting the trans community.
- 18 years of age or older.
Preferred:
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Experience working with marginalized communities.
- While not required, we strongly encourage trans and nonbinary people to apply.
HOW TO APPLY:
