Job Description:

An otolaryngologist, also known as an ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) doctor, specializes in diagnosing, treating, and managing disorders of the ear, nose, throat, and related structures of the head and neck. They provide medical and surgical care to patients of all ages. Their work often involves treating conditions such as hearing loss, sinusitis, tonsillitis, sleep apnea, and head and neck cancers.

Start date: January 6, 2025

Time commitment: 2 to 6 hours per week for the volunteer teaching assistant

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and treat disorders of the ear, nose, throat, and head/neck regions.
  • Perform surgical procedures, such as tonsillectomies, sinus surgeries, or repairing structural issues.
  • Prescribe medications or therapies to address patient conditions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
  • Completion of a residency program in otolaryngology (5-7 years).
  • Board certification in otolaryngology (optional but preferred).
  • Active and valid medical license in the practicing jurisdiction.
  • Clinical experience during residency or as an attending physician.
  • In-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the ear, nose, throat, and head/neck areas.
  • Proficiency in diagnostic tools and surgical instruments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and make decisions in critical situations.
