Rebuilding Together North Texas is looking for a detail-oriented and dedicated Legal Aide / Administrative Assistant to support our Board Secretary in managing critical administrative and compliance tasks. This volunteer role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our nonprofit and adherence to best practices in governance and compliance. This opportunity is primarily remote but we do require that or volunteers live in the DFW area.
Key Responsibilities
* Meeting Support:
* Assist with preparation for board and committee meetings, including drafting agendas and organizing materials.
* Record and prepare accurate meeting minutes, including votes and attendance.
* Compliance Assistance:
* Support compliance-related assessments, ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
* Help maintain and update policies, procedures, and governance documents throughout their lifecycle.
* Administrative Tasks:
* Track and document board and committee attendance.
* Assist in preparing reports, summaries, and documentation required for audits or compliance reviews.
* Organize and maintain digital and physical files for governance and compliance records.
* Communication:
* Serve as a liaison between the board secretary and other board members or stakeholders regarding administrative needs.
* Respond to inquiries related to compliance or procedural matters.
Skills & Qualifications
* Strong organizational and administrative skills.
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, especially in documenting votes, minutes, and policies.
* Familiarity with legal or nonprofit governance practices is a plus.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, or similar tools.
* Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
* Interest or experience in law, nonprofit governance, or compliance is a bonus.
Time Commitment
* Approximately 2-4 hours per week, with occasional increases around board meetings or major compliance deadlines.
