Apprenticeship (1 year) - 10 hrs/week. 480 hours. Work through the details of organizing large events, be they online conferences or in-person lectures. Go from novice to practitioner in events management. As an apprentice, you will also learn how to support and manage entry-level practitioners. Apprentices are expected to be advanced in their skills and career-ready upon graduation.
Internship (6 months) - 10 hrs/week. 240 hours. Learn the ins and outs of successful events management. Learn a new skill and practice it while building the archive.
Internship Time Period:
TWELVE MONTHS POSITION: Position once every year. Apprentice needs to commit a minimum of 10 hours each week. Minimum 12 months commitment
SIX MONTHS POSITION: Position opens every quarter. Intern needs to commit a minimum of 10 hours each week. Minimum 6 months commitment.
In-Person position only at our Berkeley office, CA.
Job Description:
o Build timelines and plans for all aspects of organizing an event
o Execute on outreach and advertising plans for events organizing
o Learn the ins and outs of community engagement
o Get a flavor of events planning
o Make use of planning tools such as spreadsheets or project management software
o Manage teams of volunteers and organize events personnel by role.
o A knack for being outgoing and enjoying the company of others
o Excellent oral and written communication skills
o A flare for creating meaningful experiences for others through gathering
o Previous experiences hosting and managing events is helpful by not required Internship Expectations: Interns are expected to develop ownership of their projects and encouraged to develop creative solutions. Intern must have a strong passion for and dedication to our mission and goals. Interns will receive relevant training, fieldwork experience as well as guaranteed references for successfully completing their internship term. This internship is unpaid but interns may apply for credit or funding through their college or university. Successful interns, at the end of their tenure, may be considered for any paid positions that are available.

Description
The Partition of British India in 1947 was a major 20th century event that affected millions of lives and played a key role in shaping the world in which we live today, both culturally and geopolitically. Nearly two million lost their lives and 15 million people were displaced, making it the largest mass migration. The 1947 Partition Archive is a grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the fast disappearing memory of Partition by capturing and preserving the people's history through crowd-sourced oral history collection.
