The Role: Lead Product Designer
As a Lead Product Designer at Solution Community, you will play a critical role within our Product Team, working closely with the Chief Product Officer and Technology leaders to craft user-centered designs. Your expertise will drive both our visual and functional design, ensuring that our platform is intuitive, accessible, and impactful for our global community of users.
Conditions:
Location: Remote
Commitment: Part-time (volunteer, pro bono role)
Contribution Requirements: minimum 10-15 hours a week; minimum 3 months.
What Will You Do?
- Lead and mentor a design team to ensure cohesive, high-quality design output aligned with organizational goals and user needs.
- Set design standards, workflows, and best practices while fostering a collaborative and innovative team culture.
- Design and refine user experiences for digital products, focusing on accessibility, inclusivity, and ease of use.
- Develop wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes that guide the product team through the design process.
- Conduct user research and usability testing, iterating designs based on feedback and data-driven insights.
- Create prototypes and interactive models to convey design concepts and gather feedback from stakeholders.
- Coordinate with software engineers to ensure the feasibility of design concepts, refining prototypes based on testing results and technical requirements.
- Collaborate closely with the Chief Product Officer, product managers, and engineers to translate product requirements into intuitive and impactful designs.
- Optimize designs for development by maintaining clear communication with engineering teams to ensure consistency and alignment throughout the development process.
- Facilitate design handoffs by providing documentation and guidance for smooth implementation.
- Stay updated with industry trends, design tools, and best practices to integrate innovative approaches into team workflows.
- Lead the exploration of new tools, methodologies, and frameworks to enhance user experience and design quality.
- Maintain a cohesive and recognizable visual language across all product touchpoints, aligning with the organization’s mission and values.
- Develop and maintain a design system to ensure visual consistency across platforms and products.
Who Are We Looking For?
- Experience: 7+ years of proven experience in product design, ideally with leadership experience in a similar role.
- Skills: Strong proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and prototyping tools.
- User-Centered Mindset: Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, with the ability to empathize with a diverse global user base.
- Problem-Solver: Ability to conceptualize, design, and refine solutions that address user pain points.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to convey design ideas and strategies to technical and non-technical teams alike.
- Collaborative Spirit: Works well within diverse, cross-functional teams and thrives in a collaborative environment.
