Volunteers in this position work on a crew focused on the maintenance, preservation, and periodic replacement of components of the traditional rigging on the West Coast lumber schooner C.A. THAYER, British sailing merchantman BALCLUTHA, and San Francisco Bay scow schooner ALMA. This position is supervised by the Historic Ship Rigging Supervisor in the Ship Preservation Branch of the Park. The ratio of supervisor to adult volunteer is 1 supervisor to 10 adults or 1 supervisor to 5 youth (younger than 18 years).
