Position: Volunteer Policy Advocate

Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid/Remote option available)
Time Commitment: 5-10 hours per month

About Austin NOW:

Austin NOW (National Organization for Women) is a grassroots feminist organization dedicated to advancing gender equality, racial justice, and economic equity. We are committed to advocating for policies that uplift marginalized communities and support the rights of all individuals.

Role Overview:

The Economic Justice Committee is seeking a passionate Volunteer Policy Advocate to track relevant legislation and spearhead advocacy efforts that align with our mission. This role is ideal for someone who is interested in economic justice issues, policy analysis, and community organizing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor Legislation: Keep track of local, state, and federal policies related to economic justice, including wage equity, paid family leave, and labor rights.
  • Advocacy Coordination: Lead efforts to engage the community in policy advocacy through letter-writing campaigns, petitions, and calls to action.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research on economic justice issues and draft briefs or fact sheets to support advocacy initiatives.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Committee Lead and other team members to align advocacy efforts with broader organizational goals.
  • Community Engagement: Educate and mobilize Austin NOW members and community partners on key economic justice issues.
