Volunteer Opportunity: Project Manager (PM)
The Center for Sustainable Journeys in Engineering and Innovation is seeking dedicated Project Managers (PMs) to lead and develop various sustainability-focused projects. These initiatives range from solar-powered solutions and community workshops to sustainable infrastructure and mentorship programs.
Key Responsibilities:- Project Leadership: Take ownership of sustainability-focused projects from concept to completion, ensuring all deliverables meet quality standards and align with the organization’s mission.
- Strategic Planning: Develop detailed project plans, set objectives, establish timelines, and manage budgets to ensure effective use of resources.
- Team Coordination: Lead and motivate project teams, including volunteers and community outreach coordinators, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities for every team member.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with internal and external stakeholders, including community members, volunteers, and organizational leadership. Provide regular project updates and seek input as needed.
- Resource Management: Identify and secure necessary resources for each project, including materials, funding, and personnel. Work collaboratively with grant coordinators and other team members to ensure resource allocation aligns with project goals.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions or delays to project timelines.
- Documentation and Reporting: Ensure all project activities are documented accurately and prepare comprehensive reports summarizing outcomes, challenges, and recommendations for future projects.
- Community Engagement: Build partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and other stakeholders to enhance the impact and reach of sustainability initiatives.
- Alignment with Sustainability Goals: Ensure that all projects adhere to the organization’s sustainability principles, including environmental responsibility, social inclusivity, and long-term viability.
- Proven experience in project management, ideally with sustainability or community-based projects.
- PMP certification is highly beneficial.
- Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and time-management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills for engaging with volunteers and community members.
Background Check:
To ensure the safety and integrity of our programs, a background check is required for this role. We kindly ask volunteers to cover the associated costs. However, fee waivers are available for those in need-please let us know if this applies to you.
Optional Membership Information:
The Center for Sustainable Journeys in Engineering and Innovation is a member-based organization with three membership tiers:
- Tier I Voting Membership ($1,000 annually): Includes direct voting rights, committee leadership opportunities, exclusive events, and premium access to resources.
- Tier II Non-Voting Membership ($500 annually): Offers indirect voting rights through committee participation, networking opportunities, and access to curated educational resources.
- Tier III Non-Voting Membership ($120 annually): Ideal for individuals who want to support the mission and enjoy basic membership benefits, including contributing to sustainability efforts, receiving updates about organizational initiatives, accessing exclusive content, and learning about new volunteering roles.
While membership is not required to volunteer, Tier I Membership is highly encouraged for Project Managers as it provides opportunities to influence organizational decisions and access exclusive leadership resources.
Time Commitment:5-10 hours per week, with a flexible schedule based on project timelines.
