Position: Volunteer Outreach Liaison
Committee: Austin NOW - Ending Violence Against Women
Commitment: 5-8 hours per month
Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid: Remote & In-Person)

About Austin NOW: The National Organization for Women (NOW) in Austin is a chapter dedicated to advancing gender justice, promoting equality, and fighting against systemic oppression. The Ending Violence Against Women Committee focuses on addressing and dismantling the structures that perpetuate gender-based violence, advocating for policy change, and supporting survivors in our community.

Role Overview: We are seeking a passionate and proactive Outreach Liaison to join our Ending Violence Against Women Committee. The Outreach Liaison will play a key role in building partnerships with local organizations, fostering community engagement, and strengthening our collaborative efforts to combat violence against women.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and Maintain Partnerships: Develop and nurture relationships with local nonprofits, advocacy groups, shelters, and community organizations focused on gender justice and violence prevention.
  • Community Engagement: Represent Austin NOW at community events, forums, and coalition meetings to promote our initiatives and build networks.
  • Collaboration and Support: Coordinate with other committees within Austin NOW to align on cross-committee projects and events.
  • Outreach Campaigns: Assist in planning and executing outreach initiatives to raise awareness about issues related to violence against women and available resources for survivors.
  • Communication: Regularly update the committee on outreach activities, new partnerships, and opportunities for collaboration.

Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in community organizing, outreach, or partnership building is a plus.
  • Passion for gender justice, intersectional feminism, and advocacy.
  • Ability to attend monthly committee meetings (virtual) and occasional in-person events.
