Austin NOW Racial Justice Volunteer Outreach Liaison
Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid/Remote Option Available)
Commitment: Volunteer, 5-10 hours per week
Position Overview:
Austin NOW is seeking a passionate and driven Racial Justice Volunteer Outreach Liaison to join our team. In this role, you will help foster meaningful partnerships with other organizations and lead community outreach efforts to support our racial justice initiatives. You will be at the forefront of advocating for equal opportunities for women of color, ensuring that our organization’s work resonates and engages with the diverse communities we serve.
Key Responsibilities:
- Community Outreach: Actively engage with community groups, activists, and local leaders to build relationships and create opportunities for collaboration on racial justice initiatives.
- Partnership Development: Establish and maintain partnerships with organizations aligned with our mission, focusing on racial justice, civil rights, and social equity.
- Event Coordination: Assist in organizing and promoting events, workshops, and educational campaigns that promote racial justice awareness and advocate for policy changes.
- Advocacy Support: Work closely with the Racial Justice Committee to implement advocacy strategies and participate in campaigns aimed at improving opportunities and protections for women of color.
- Communication: Represent Austin NOW at community meetings, rallies, and coalition events, amplifying the voices of marginalized groups and the racial justice work of the organization.
- Reporting: Regularly update the Racial Justice Committee on outreach efforts, partnership developments, and community feedback.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- A strong passion for racial justice and equity, with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by women of color.
- Experience in community outreach, advocacy, or nonprofit work.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with local racial justice issues and the political landscape in Austin is a plus.
