Commitment: Part-time, flexible hours (estimated 5-10 hours per week)

Position Summary:
Austin NOW is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated volunteer to serve as the LGBTQIA+ Rights Volunteer Outreach Liaison. This volunteer will play a critical role in building relationships with local organizations, managing outreach initiatives, and helping create an inclusive, supportive community for LGBTQIA+ individuals in Austin. This position is perfect for someone passionate about LGBTQIA+ rights and community advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Community Outreach: Build and maintain partnerships with local LGBTQIA+ organizations, advocacy groups, and allies to strengthen the Austin NOW network.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other committees within Austin NOW to align on cross-committee projects and initiatives that affect the LGBTQIA+ community.
- Event Coordination: Assist in organizing and promoting LGBTQIA+ events, workshops, and campaigns that raise awareness, provide support, and mobilize action.
- Resource Development: Help create and distribute educational materials, resources, and toolkits to support LGBTQIA+ individuals, particularly in marginalized communities.
- Advocacy: Support advocacy efforts at the local level, including attending rallies, meetings, and events to represent Austin NOW’s LGBTQIA+ rights agenda.
- Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with community partners and stakeholders, ensuring the visibility of LGBTQIA+ initiatives and events.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Passion for LGBTQIA+ rights and social justice.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse groups.
- Experience in outreach, advocacy, or community organizing (preferred but not required).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with local LGBTQIA+ resources and organizations is a plus.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
