Position: LGBTQIA+ Rights Volunteer Event Organizer
Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid/Remote options available)

Commitment: Flexible, approximately 5-10 hours per week (varies with events)
About Austin NOW: The National Organization for Women (NOW) is committed to fighting for equality, social justice, and the rights of women and marginalized communities. The Austin chapter of NOW focuses on creating lasting change for women and communities of color in our region. As part of our ongoing advocacy efforts, we are seeking a dedicated LGBTQIA+ Rights Volunteer Event Organizer to join our team.
Position Overview: The LGBTQIA+ Rights Volunteer Event Organizer will play a key role in planning and executing events that promote LGBTQIA+ rights, raise awareness, and mobilize community action. This individual will work closely with other Austin NOW committees and partners to organize events, rallies, workshops, and fundraisers that support the local LGBTQIA+ community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate LGBTQIA+ rights-focused events, including rallies, workshops, panel discussions, and community outreach programs.
- Collaborate with local LGBTQIA+ organizations and community leaders to ensure events are relevant and impactful.
- Manage event logistics, including securing venues, organizing materials, coordinating volunteers, and handling event promotion.
- Work with the social media team to create promotional materials and help drive attendance through various communication channels.
- Assist in fundraising efforts for LGBTQIA+ rights campaigns, including organizing fundraisers and identifying potential sponsors.
- Provide on-the-ground support during events, ensuring smooth operations and effective engagement with attendees.
- Report event progress and outcomes to the LGBTQIA+ Rights Committee and help evaluate the impact of each event.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Passion for LGBTQIA+ rights and social justice.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Experience planning and executing events, including coordinating volunteers and managing logistics.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital tools for event promotion.
- Prior experience in community outreach or organizing is a plus, but not required.
