About Austin NOW:
The Austin chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW) is dedicated to advancing social, political, and economic equality for all women and marginalized communities. We focus on issues like reproductive rights, economic justice, ending violence against women, racial justice, LGBTQIA+ rights, and constitutional equality. As part of our ongoing efforts to secure gender equality, we are actively working to pass the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA).

Position Overview:
Austin NOW is seeking a passionate and proactive ERA Volunteer Outreach Liaison to join our team. This volunteer will play a key role in building and strengthening partnerships with local organizations and groups, promoting awareness and support for the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), and leading community outreach efforts. The role is ideal for someone with strong communication skills, a deep commitment to gender equality, and a desire to make a tangible impact on women’s rights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with local organizations, advocacy groups, and community leaders that support or align with the ERA.
  • Coordinate and lead outreach initiatives to educate the public and raise awareness about the ERA’s importance.
  • Help organize events, meetings, and campaigns that highlight the need for constitutional gender equality and push for the ERA’s adoption.
  • Collaborate with other Austin NOW committees to align messaging and maximize the impact of outreach efforts.
  • Manage and track outreach efforts, documenting interactions and follow-ups to ensure continuous engagement with potential partners.
  • Assist in the creation of marketing materials, such as flyers, social media content, and email campaigns, to promote ERA-related events and initiatives.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Passion for gender equality, women’s rights, and social justice issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect and engage with diverse groups.
  • Experience in outreach, community organizing, or partnership building is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable using digital communication tools (e.g., email, social media, and project management platforms).
  • A positive and collaborative attitude, with the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

Since our founding in 1966, NOW’s purpose is to take action through intersectional grassroots activism to promote feminist ideals, lead societal change, eliminate discrimination, and achieve and protect the equal rights of all women and girls in all aspects of social, political, and economic life.
