As the holiday season approaches, Child Inc is reaching out to our local community to help provide essential winter items and gifts for the children we serve in high-poverty areas throughout Travis County. We are asking for your support to host a toy, coat, and shoe drive at your office or among your team this year.
The children in our programs, ages eight weeks to five years, grow quickly, and the shoes and coats they had last winter often no longer fit. For many of our children, the items we collect during these drives will be the only new toys or warm clothing they receive all season. Sadly, traditional sources of support like Toys for Tots and Coats for Kids have struggled to meet the growing demand, making your help more critical than ever.
We currently have 25 Child Inc centers/sites spread across Travis County, serving hundreds of children in need. As the continuous Head Start provider for the county since 1972, we offer much more than early childhood education. Our comprehensive services include health screenings, nutritious meals, mental health support, disability services, and social-emotional learning for children, as well as critical resources for their families. Your contribution will help us continue providing a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive.
Hosting a toy, coat, or shoe drive is also a wonderful opportunity for team-building during this season of giving. You can work together to collect, gift-wrap, and deliver donations directly to one of our centers in December. Whether it’s toys to brighten a child’s holiday, shoes that fit for the winter months, or a warm coat to protect against the cold, your support will have a lasting impact.

Mission Statement
Our mission at Child Inc is to provide high-quality education and comprehensive support services for children and their families while promoting personal and social responsibility in the communities we serve.
Description
Child Inc Head Start is a national high quality research based early childhood development program designed to promote school readiness for income eligible families with children ages 0-5 including pregnant mothers, focused on closing the achievement gap between more affluent peers and lower income children founded as a 501(c)3 in 1972. Our mission stems from providing access to quality early learning environments and family support services for high risk populations as the Early Head Start and Head Start provider for Travis County. Services include early education, health, dental, nutrition, mental health and special education for children with disabilities. Child Inc gives priority to Central Texas families that have incomes below the federal poverty guidelines with the goal of providing a positive learning environment for young children and addressing their comprehensive service needs. Priority is also given to children who are homeless or in the child protective service system with 10% of enrollment reserved for children with special needs.
