About the Organization:
The Northside Food Pantry Advisors’ mission is to ensure sustainable health and food security for our neighbors by donating time, money, and goods. The Northside Food Pantry Advisors (NFPA) was formed in 2013 to support the Northside Food Pantry and serve as a "friend of" fundraising organization.
The efforts of the Northside Food Pantry Advisors have allowed for the Pantry’s significant expansion of fruit and vegetable distribution. The Northside Food Pantry is the only pantry in Southwestern Pennsylvania that offers fresh produce to its clients on an unlimited, thrice-weekly basis, with many of our neighbors returning several times a week for more fresh produce.
In addition to our direct support of the Northside Food Pantry, the Northside Food Pantry Advisors pay for and distribute produce at Northview Heights every Saturday morning. This has given some of our most vulnerable Northside neighbors living in one of the most severe food deserts in Pittsburgh access to fresh fruits and vegetables.
Executive Committee Member Expectations:
Serve a three-year term with the option to serve a second three-year term.
Attend Executive Committee meetings, typically every other month. Currently, the EC meets on the first Wednesday of the month beginning in January at 6:30 PM.
